Fish Gaucho
From the same purveyors that bring you Pappy McGregor’s, Fish Gaucho offers a variety of Latin flavors, particularly shining in their tacos and margaritas.
We had our dogs with us and so sat on their patio, which is decently sized and sheltered, which is great because the sun can quickly get intense. It would also definitely hold up to light rain as long as wind stayed low.
We started with the guacamole and salsa trio along with a classic margarita (tequila, agave, lime) and The Jalapiñe (fire-roasted jalapeño and pineapple garnish, tequila, agave, lime, chili salt rim). The roasted Roma tomato salsa and pineapple-jicama pico de gallo were particularly good and both margaritas were great, too.
They offer both a lunch and happy hour menu. I took advantage of the great lunch menu surf and turf deal to be able to get a spread of 2 west coast fish tacos, one carnitas taco, and one short rib taco. Typically their tacos are served in sets of 4. I’m not sure how strict they are on that but it seems like the only way to try multiple off-lunchtime is to come with a group and share.
The short rib taco was incredibly flavorful and definitely stood out, especially because so many restaurants in the area offer great fish tacos. My dining partner opted for a set of short rib tacos and was pleased with his decision.
