Lone Madrone

Rachel and I visited Lone Madrone for the first time Memorial Day weekend 2023 and enjoyed ourselves enough that we’ve already made several return trips.

The location adjacent to the intersection of Vineyard Dr and Highway 46 is effectively Ground Zero for Paso wine country. Start here and you’ll find more wineries every direction you travel, and it’s also only 5 minutes away from the Sunrise Estate - pretty tough to beat!

Everything about Lone Madrone can be summed up in a word - “approachable.” Nothing about them is pretentious. Tastings are primarily done on their expansive outdoor patio and they are teamed up with Kitchen Forty Six to offer food to go along with your wine. The generously-portioned plate of fries hits the spot for me - would recommend sharing between two or more people. The wines themselves are easy to drink and friendly to a newer palette. Look for their GSM (they may call it MSG) as a Pinot-like sipping red that would go nicely with a meaty meal.
